+1 (2013). Written and directed by Dennis Iliadis. The story starts with David (Rhys Wakefield) paying a surprise visit to his girlfriend Jill (Ashley Hinshaw) at her new college. She is taking part in a fencing competition and ends up losing against another girl that looks very similar. David bumps into the other girl, has a brief conversation with her, and they spontaneously kiss. Jill sees them kissing and leaves in disgust. David regrets what he has done and aims to try and apologise to Jill at a party with their mutual friends. Meanwhile a strange meteor strikes the ground and seems to infect the nearby electricity supply. The concept behind +1 is somewhat original at least, even though the story is very drawn out and bogged down in teen romance. The only other real positive point in the film were the performances from most of those involved, which gave it some atmosphere at least. For those who can cope with slow odd films that mix up SF and horror, and have a teenage cast. 3/5 (Average)
