My answer for the first question is simply 'no', but that isn't an option.

I answered 'yes' to question 1, and I thought I'd qualify my answer.

Funnily enough, I've just - in the last couple of days - finished listening to a podcast that discusses the question of jealousy and envy as sins. The upshot of it is that if your jealousy or envy is directed to something (or someone) that you "own", then it cannot be considered a sin as it (or they) is a part of you. However, if your jealousy or envy is directed at something (or someone) that you do not "own", then it is a sin as determined by one of the Ten Commandments.

"You shall not covet your neighbor's house. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor." - Ex 20:17
