The Big Bang (2011). Directed by Tony Krantz and written by Erik Jendresen. The film is told in flashback by private detective Ned Cruz (Antonio Banderas) while under a somewhat intense police interrogation. Cruz was hired by an ex-boxer (Robert Maillet) to find a stripper that he is in love with, and it also turns out has US$30M in diamonds. The Big Bang will no doubt divide the critics, and at a guess it will divide most of them into the "hate" camp - it is a bit of a bizarre, confusing, and bonkers mess - but for me I found it a rather loveable mess which covers everything from sex to quantum physics. On a technical level the cinematography and effects are great, and both simple and surreal at times. The soundtrack is also good. I can only really recommend it to other fans of loveable messes, and that's a hard group to define at the best of times. 4/5 (Good)
