So following on from the preliminary review of the Storage Options IP Link camera, bought from eBuyer, I managed to get it working with some help from steveeeee.

It isn't 100% clear what the issue was, but it seems likely that I just didn't leave it long enough to handshake with the wireless network. As before I just plugged in all the wireless network details (WPA2 and TKIP), and the green light on the front flashed rapidly, but it did connect. The only other thing we did was to set a static IP, which steveeeee did when testing it at his gaff.

So if anyone out there is having problems with this it's worth leaving it a few minutes to connect (a rapidly flashing green light does *not* mean it hasn't connected, and it seems to stay this way when connected wirelessly). Also it could be worth setting a static IP with the shipped software.
