A lovely poem posted as a comment by corporatebeach. I love the sentiment:

If I had my child to raise over again
I'd build self-esteem first and the house later
I'd finger paint more and point the finger less
I would do less correcting and more connecting
I'd take my eyes off my watch and watch with my eyes
I would care to know less and know to care more
I'd take more hikes and fly more kites
I'd stop playing serious and seriously play
I would run through more fields and gaze at more stars
I'd do more hugging and less tugging
I'd see the oak tree in the acorn more often
I would be firm less often and affirm much more
I'd model less about the love of power
And more about the power of love.

In related news, Amélie's walking is coming on leaps and bounds. She has been walking a lot of today, and even walked from the living room to the kitchen and back again. She seems to be exploring more, now that she has found her walking legs, and seems less reluctant about leaving us in another room. Except that we wonder what the heck she's up to!

We had a lovely lunch with Mum and Dad today, but despite a (more or less) 8 hours sleep last night I was still asleep on my feet this afternoon, and slept for a couple of hours in one of their spare rooms. Amélie had a lovely time with Mum and Dad though, and made up for not seeing them for 3 weeks.

Chances are Mum won't come tomorrow, in case we need her babysitting skills later in the week. I'm assuming there will be a walk with steveeeee tomorrow afternoon.

Tuesday afternoon I need to really crack on and get the website and newsletter work done, because I won't have much time on Wednesday. And Wednesday afternoon I'll probably leave around 3:30-4pm (sorry steveeeee, that means no walk unless you want to swap days or go earlier), so there's no rush to get to the O2 stadium - or maybe that's leaving way too early... stress, stress, stress! I know the bit of the M25 I need can often be fairly horrible.

Thursday and Friday are clear for the moment, so a chance to catch up with job hunting. Just remembered I want to watch Attack the Block on Thursday or Friday, but that will still leave plenty of time for job hunting.

Walkies on for tomorrow. Can't really swap days or do earlier but OK to skip Wednesday as I can spend some time tidying up/packing/eBaying/etc.
