Attack the Block (2011). Written and directed by Joe Cornish. The film is set around a block of flats in South London. A group of hoodies mug a nurse on her way home, who escapes with just the loss of her phone and handbag. Her escape is made when the gang are distracted, to say the least, by a meteor hitting a parked car... or is it just a meteor? Attack the Block is a hard film to find fault with, and is generally very... tidy, for lack of a better word. There's a good blend of action and story, and only those who are allergic to hoodies, constant street talk (and constant swearing) might get put off. The only thing keeping it from top marks is that I wasn't riveted to my seat - it was fun, but not a classic. 4/5 (Good)
