It has been a long day.

Aside from only getting 2-3 hours sleep, Amélie has started a nasty cold. As her temperature was high Lu gave her some Calpol, and she slept from around 10am-12:30pm.

Mum arrived just after 1pm, and Lu was late for work due to her concern over Amélie. She wasn't very bad though this morning.

I went and signed on, and afterwards got some odds 'n' ends in Sainsbury's. I wasn't hungry beforehand, but I started to feel hungry while there. The hunger combined with the tiredness left me feeling dizzy and very much out of it.

When I came back, just before 3pm, Amélie was almost asleep in Mum's lap but she looked dreadful - pale, almost ashen faced, and listless. She woke up when she saw me, and when she walked over to me she was very hot to the touch all over. I checked her temperature and it was 39C. I was expecting a lot higher.

I mixed some orange juice with Calpol and put it in a sippy cup. Initially she refused it, but a few minutes later she drank the lot and asked for more. She then laid on me, while I was sitting on the sofa, and within a few minutes was falling asleep again. I waited an hour or so, and then put her on her changing mat, on top of a blanket.

Amélie slept from then until just before Lu arrived, at 6pm. She was lots better though when she woke up. Gone was the ashen face and listlessness, and she was more or less her old self, and just a little bit pale. Her temperature was still way down as well, so clearly the sleep did her a lot of good.

The only problem now is that she's inevitably proving difficult to put to bed, having had so much sleep during the day. I'm sure she will wear out eventually.
