So it was another good night with Amélie. She slept from 7pm - 6am, without waking up.

I had a bit of a breakthrough with the insomnia. As stupid as it sounds I stopped trying to find things to get me to sleep, and just lay there trying to sleep. And I slept. Doh! I'll have to remember to keep trying this.

I still didn't go to bed until around midnight, but I felt unusually refreshed this morning, and went downstairs with Amélie, gave her breakfast etc. Sadly though I felt dead by about 10am, and had to go and have a nap, which lasted 2 hours. I'm not sure if I have fragmented my sleep patterns into part night, and part day. It seems to be surprisingly easy to do this.

After lunch we headed off early to Music in the Meadow, partly so I could stop at the sweet shop in Farnham, and partly so Lu could to go to Elphicks. Also we were just going to let Amélie have a run around in Gostrey Meadows. It ended up that we got there just as the concert was starting, but c'est la vie.

The band (Panama Café Orchestra) was excellent, and covering one of the many genres I like, 1920s jazz. They also had their tongue firmly in their cheek, and there were various amusing intros to songs. If I didn't already have a plan for my 40th, it's the sort of band I'd love to have*. A small group turned up in 1920s clothes, and sat in front of the bandstand, just to add to the authenticity. They even had a 1920s picnic hamper! Amélie was running about all over the place, and also spent some time at the playground there - in short she was having a fantastic time. This is one of the places I used to play as a kid, so there's something special about bringing Amélie there.

*Assuming I can afford to do anything for my 40th.

Amélie must have been shattered, as she fell asleep within 5 minutes of the car drive home. We let her sleep for an hour and a half, and gave her a late dinner and bath. Unfortunately she was awake until a few minutes ago, and Lu is trying right now to get her to sleep for a second time. Lu could not get her to sleep, so has put her directly in the cot. Interesting again that feeding has failed to get her to sleep.

No signing on tomorrow. Lu is out with a friend (and Amélie) in the morning. Mum and potentially Dad are going to come over at 1pm and we're going to take Amélie to The Vyne, just to do something different. I don't have to sign on tomorrow. Signing on has become semi-pointless, aside from NI credits. I'm not quite sure what an absence of NI means offhand.

There's nothing planned for the rest of the week, other than the usual. Again I'll see if anything decent appears at the cinema on Friday. And of course next weekend is the BBQ.

^Folks in 1920s dress. I was going to ask if they minded having their photo taken, but as they studiously avoided eye contact I just took it. Kudos to them for adding to the atmosphere, although I'm sure they were friends and/or family relations of the band.
