The requirement for my next job is that I "have something to bloody do!". I loathe loathe loathe sitting in an office with no actual work to get on with. It's not like I can flick on the TV or read a book. It's just null time.

My fuckwit of a Manager gave me 3 jobs on Thursday. The only problem is that there is nothing immediate I can do for *any* of them, so I still have no work to do. Did he not understand this? I'm sure he did.

So what on earth am I supposed to do? I have told him several times, but again I'm going to have to say "I have no work to do, and I need some idea of what I should be doing with this spare time". I despair :-( This all makes me majorly stressed, and have a fuck off headache. Grrrrrrrrrr.

I suspect these entries are going to repeat ad nauseum until this (a) gets sorted or (b) I get a new job.

attack of the boredom monster

That is so frustrating - I don't do suspended annimation very well either. These days I carry a book with me at all times to prevent attacks from the boredom monster. . .but as you say, it wouldn't look too good for you to sit there with your feet on the desk, reading!

Another reason why I like being self employed - I am my own boss and I can work me as hard as I need to!

Re: attack of the boredom monster

The way I see it is that I spend a lot of time at work, so I want to (a) ideally be doing something worthwhile (b) be doing something full stop!

I toyed with the idea of setting up my own company when I was fired, and now I wish I had. It would have to be IT related though, but at least I could try and make as much work as possible.

Bah, I'm really really hacked off with this. Nothing gets to me more than a PITA job.
