Film Review: Iron Sky (2012)
Iron Sky (2012). Directed by Tino Vuorensola. The film is set in 2018, with a manned US mission to the moon. The lunar capsule is carrying a black astronaut, specifically chosen to boost the election efforts of a Sarah Palin-esque US president. The capsule has landed on the border with the dark side of the moon, and when the other astronaut reaches the border he is shot in the head by a Luger carrying Nazi astronaut. The black astronaut tries to escape, but is captured and taken to what seems to be a swastika shaped Nazi base on the moon. From the introduction you can probably gauge the level of Iron Sky. It's fair to say that its tongue is firmly in its cheek pretty much from the start, and along with dodgy acting, somewhat dodgy CGI, and a bonkers story this isn't the stuff of classic cinema. Cult classic it might be, although it was nothing more than mildly amusing for me, not helped by the inevitably dire story. If Nazi moon bases are your sort of thing, then give it a try. Otherwise best avoided. 2/5 (Poor)
