Film Review: Enduring Love (2004)

Enduring Love (2004). Directed by Roger Michell and based on the novel by Ian McEwan. The film opens on an idyllic day in the British countryside. Joe (Daniel Craig) and Claire (Samantha Morton) are laying in a green field when Claire spots an out of control hot air balloon. Enduring Love covers a range of topics - death, love, regret, and obsession - that evolve out of a traumatic event. It does a good job of telling a strange tale, even if it feels like it unravels slightly towards the inevitable end. Craig is particularly great, and the accompany cast are also very good. For those who fancy an odd and black bit of drama I'd recommend it. 4/5 (Good)
