Film Review: Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance (2012)
Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance (2012). Directed by Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, and based on the Marvel comic. The film starts in France with the priest Moreau (Idris Elba) warning the senior monk (Anthony Head) of a monastery that they must move a boy who is under their protection. The monk ignores his advice and at just that moment the monastery is attacked by soldiers. The Ghost Rider sequel is much in the same vein as the first film i.e. low grade comic book action; the story is basic and the characters are two dimensional (ironically). I thought Nicholas Cage was OK in the main role, albeit I'm not averse to him. Christopher Lambert appears briefly as a bald headed monk with scribble all over his face. Fans of simplistic action will enjoy it, and I can admit I was very much in the mood to watch. Best to avoid though if you've got something better. 2/5 (Poor)
