Film Review: Byzantium (2013)
Byzantium (2013). Directed by Neil Jordan and written by Moira Buffini. The film starts with a young girl, Eleanor (Saoirse Ronan), writing a story. She throws a page from the story from her window where it is picked up by an old man. Byzantium is a slow cooker of a film. It starts with the feel of gritty British drama, but there is a fantasy edge grows during the story. Both Saoirse Ronan and Gemma Arterton are excellent in the film, along with all the supporting characters. Recommended for those who can stick with the pace of a long and an unusually told fantasy story. 4/5 (Good)
