Film Review: The Place Beyond the Pines (2013)
The Place Beyond the Pines (2013). Co-written and directed by Derek Clanfrance. The film starts at a circus, following motorcycle stuntman Luke (Ryan Gosling). Luke hooks up with a girl, Romina (Eva Mendes), that he meets every time he passes through. Some hours later he goes to her house to see if she's there and meets her mother who is carrying a young baby. The mother tells Luke that the baby is his, and he is stunned. The Place Beyond the Pines is a story in three parts, the third of which moves forward 15 years. It's a great story of consequences, with some incredible performances from Gosling, and also Bradley Cooper. The film is well directed, with a great soundtrack by Arvo Part and Mike Patton. For fans of great quality drama. 4/5 (Good)
