Film Review: Sin City: A Dame to Kill For (2014)
Sin City: A Dame to Kill For (2014). Written and co-directed by Frank Miller. The film opens with Marv (Mickey Rourke) regaining consciousness from a car crash. Initially Marv can't remember how he got there, but then he recalls that he interrupted three rich frat boys who had set a tramp on fire. One of the boys shoots him in the arm, but when Marv doesn't flinch they run away. He chases them and grabs onto their car as they drive away. I was a fan of the first Sin City, and it's very much the same with the sequel. The film oozes style and atmosphere with the comic book style visuals. More importantly there's an interesting and intertwined story that keeps a good balance between detail and overcomplication. This is most definitely not a film for everyone though, with lashings of violence. 5/5 (Excellent)
