Watched Mr. and Mrs. Smith yesterday. For those who don't know, the basic premise is that Mr. Smith (Brad Pitt) and Mrs. Smith (Angelina Jolie) are assassins, but neither knows it. Mr. Smith thinks that Mrs. Smith works with computers, and Mrs. Smith thinks Mr. Smith works in construction. Despite their secret weapon stashes around the house etc. Basically that's the premise for the film, and there isn't much more to it than that. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are as always great to watch, but even they struggle to bring this "one joke" movie out of tedium for me, despite the inevitable explosive action sequences. 2/5

I've also got to the second episode of Firefly, and I'm starting to enjoy it, a lot more than the movie. Early days yet though and I'll see what it's like by the fourth episode. Ordinarily I won't watch a TV series that uses country and western in its theme music, but I'll give Firefly a break.

In other news, we had a huge thunderstorm here last night around 11pm. I decided this time it was better to turn off all the electrics, although in theory I should have unplugged as well despite some of the protection we have here. Lu's Aunt's house was recently struck by lightning, and it killed her computer, telephone, and electric garage door.

Funny, the music is what I really missed in the movie, though I'm not a big fan of country western either. I think it added to whole "not just another sci-fi" feel. Keep watching. ;)

It just makes it too Westerny for me, but the stories are what always hook me in TV or film and the story is getting better in Firefly.
